India’s First Solar Car Rally – Electric Solar Vehicle Championship 3000 took place on 19th April 2023 on Yamuna Expressway from Galgotias University to Jewar to Galgotias University. The event was organized by India’s leading Motorsports, Skill based Research and Innovation organization, Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers and co-organized by one of best private universities across India, Galgotias University.
The opening ceremony for the event was held on 14 April in the presence of Shri. Dhruv Galgotia (CEO, Galgotias University), Mr. Vinod Gupta (President, ISIEINDIA), Prof. Prakash Joshi (Founder and Joint Managing Trustee, MIT Group of Institutions), Dr. K. C. Vora (Emeritus Professor, COEP Technical University), Mr. Praveen Kumar (Sr. HR Officer), Mr. Amit Singh (Customer Succes Manager, Altair Engineering), Mr. Akshay Kumar (Head Business Development, E Fill Electric and Charging Solution) and other industry and academic delegates.
Under the event regulations, engineering students teams from 15 institutes have designed and manufactured solar electric vehicles. The vehicle were inspected by the ISIE Technical Committee through various performance rounds before going in the rally.
Firstly, the solar cars were checked whether they are made as per the given standard regulations followed by various performance tests like Brake, Acceleration, Cross Pad, Hill Climb, Off Road, Solar Performance, etc to check the vehicle durability and ability to run under various road conditions.
7 vehicles out of 15 vehicles has passed the performance parameters and selected for the rally.
On 19th April, at 12 PM the flag off was given to the solar cars by Mr. Sabyasachi Das (CEO, Tata Indian Institutes of Skills), Ms. Nidhi Goyal (VP – Program, Tata Indian Institutes of Skills), and Mr. Vinod Gupta(President, ISIEINDIA). The solar cars travelled from Galgotias University to Jewar, at Jewar all the vehicle inspected at the check points along with the driver safety. After the checkpoint, they travelled back to Galgotias University. They have covered a distance of 70 KM in the rally without a failure.
Teams from Vidyavardhini’s College of Engineering, Sinhgad College of Engineering and Pimri Chinchwad College of Engineering bags the Champion, Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up awards respectively.

This event has created a significant impact in areas pertaining to electric vehicles through rally, providing a platform to students across India to learn and improve their skills in new technologies and renewable energy, promoting e-mobility and green energy. The rally has enabled budding engineers to grapple with real-life applications and improve their skills related to design, analysis and problem solving besides enhancing their interpersonal skills and self-confidence.
